I have a testimony to share with you all. This past Friday I spoke to a group of students at Wayne State University in Detroit. It was a small group of 10, but this is why it is a testimony…..
I was a very young teenager mother, I had my first daughter at the tender age of 14.  I still graduated from high school on time, which is a testimony in itself.  Of course I couldn’t go away to college, so I attended Wayne State University after high school.  During my second year in 1995, my daughter LaDaejha passed away. She was 4 years old, and had an unknown virus.  I stopped attending school and had it very hard for the next several years.  Economic and housing instability, mental and emotional turmoil, suicidal, and heartbroken.  Through it all God never left my side, although I didn’t realize it at the time.

Eleven years after graduating from high school, I completed my Bachelors degree in Business Administration at Baker College in 2005.  In 2009 I went back to Wayne State University for my Masters degree in Social Work, and graduated in 2011.  I came full circle.  Now in 2018 I had the opportunity to speak to students.  Don’t tell me what God won’t do!

I rarely mention this, but I will share another testimony of how God brought me full circle about my daughter.  The hospital in Detroit where my daughter died…years later I became the Operations Manager of that building in 2008.  Imagine this, my office was down the same hall that I was in when I was told that my daughter didn’t make it.  This was the biggest job of my career at the time.  I never shared this with the people who hired me or that worked there.  It was a personal testimony that I carried with me everyday at work.

She will never finish school…..she will have more babies that she can’t take care of…..she will never accomplish anything positive in life…..no good man will ever want her…..she won’t…..she will not…..But God!  Who would have thought that the 14 year old teenage mother would have come this far!

I share this testimony to encourage someone else to never give up!  No matter what you have been through, no matter who said that you would not make it, no matter what labels the world tries to put on you, no matter how hard it is, God still loves you and can still use you!  Never give up on your dreams.  I came full circle, and so can you!

Love, Tonia
